Pagefile location: does it matter?

Does placing the pagefile on a separate volume than the OS drive actually make a difference?

I have a 74 GB ADFD raptor and a 200GB Seagate drive. Right now the pagefile is on the raptor as is the OS; just wondering if moving it to the Seagate drive would increase performance at all. I've seen this recommended in all sorts of places but it doesn't really seem like it would make a huge difference.

Also, I noticed if you don't give the default OS drive a certain amount of RAM (like 64MB) I get BSODs and I remember someone mentioning that this is because of the way Windows dumps errors when it crashes; it needs a certain amount of RAM to do it on the C drive. Is this also true or a confirmed issue?
 
One way to possibly improve performance is to have a pagefile on both HDDs. Windows is supposed to use the one on the drive that is less occupied.
 
If you're worried about page file performance, you need more RAM. If you have enough RAM, the location of the page file isn't going to matter.
 
It has been traditionally suggested that a pagefile be placed on a separate hard drive on a separate channel from the Windows installation because then Windows can access the pagefile while the OS drive is being accessed.

I'm pretty sure that's why it's generally recommended, but I can't say whether or not it provides any noticeable performance boost. I usually put my pagefile on its own partition (like how Linux does /swap) just so the PF doesn't get fragmented.

But with 3 GB of RAM, I don't really worry about my PF (which is set to a static 256 atm I think).
 
I have 2gb set aside for the pagefile and 2gb of RAM.

The only time I get pagefile access is when I'm downloading a bunch of torrent stuff... the rest of the time it's not really noticeable.

Maybe 2gb pagefile is excessive; I am not really using the space anyways though but yeah I could always cut it back.
 
So does multiple pagefiles on multiple hard drives improve performance vs one pagefile on a seperate drive?
