P8Z77-V LK electrical interference?

I just bought a P8Z77-V LK motherboard and 3570K processor and I am having a rather strange problem. When highly overclocked (4.5GHz or faster), under full load using Prime95 my mouse (MX Revolution) gets very laggy - if the computer is idle the mouse works fine. At first I thought it was an issue with the USB ports, but no amount of changing settings would improve it. Research on the MX Revolution suggested that the transceiver is quite weak and to use a USB extension cord to get it closer to the mouse. I tried that and the mouse now works fine. That leads to my question: how much interference does a motherboard normally emit? I don't think my current setup is normal as my previous rig (P5E motherboard and Q9550 processor) didn't interfere with the MX Revolution at all. Should I send my motherboard in for RMA?
