P8P67 Pro CMOS Clear

Just got my new build all hooked up but no image on screen. My first thought was to reset the CMOS but I don't know how on this mobo , is there a button on it or do I have to do the battery removal / jumper method. Asus P8P67 Pro if you didn't know already

*edit* when I start the PC it seems to ''rev'' . All fans and all start up , shut down after a few seconds and then goes on fully , is this normal ?

Welcome to the world of Asus double cold boot.

Make sure you have the latest BIOS.
Set memory to XMP if possible.
List spec's.
Google fixes or this forum for Double cold boot, been batted around before.
 
You can try the jumper method.

It seems like the AI tuner thing is kicked in at the start. Try the Mem OK button to see if it helps.

At best, I also concur with HardBytes that you also update the BIOS. You may want to also update the ME piece too since it fixed a problem which I had (which I had given up on months ago) and since doing that solved what was happening to me,
 
yeah, the pro doesnt have a button you need to do cmos "old school"
The double post has been around since P965
Heres my standard double post answer - I saved it in January 2011 (tho there can be additional more rare issues)

The "double post" means a warm reboot after cold boot, whereas the CPU fan comes to a slowdown/halt then immediately starts again. Logo screen flicker could be PCIe not set as first graphics mode in bios or graphics card color settings kicking in. The question is if there is a few seconds interval between, with a CPU fan slowdown heard ea time.

A "warm reboot" is a reset of the system - on the fly.
Each time the bios sees a prob, it will reboot and try again. You can have this as a "double post" or a triple post, or an endless reboot loop if its bad enough.
There are prob couple hundred posts on that subject here.

For example if you have a non Intel controller enabled in bios and nothing is in them (Marvel/JMicron/1394 etc), the bios looks for something bootable to initiate and dosnt find anything, it reboots, moves on to the next one. So, you must disable in bios any controller not in use,

If RAM settings are too extreme (can happen on "auto"), or just not workable, it reboots. Make sure RAM settings are workable. Look at SPD settings in CPUID, set manually if necessary

Could be your CPU fan speed min max too lhigh for fan

Or bad boot order set, non bootable drive before bootable

A big one is XMP profile RAM that isnt set in bios to XMP enabled. To see if your RAM is XMP you can use CPUID, SPD tab. Or any mis set RAM timing or voltage. "Auto" can often be too aggressive for some brands/models. Some have to write down SPD timing settings and manual enter ea in bios mem options, if RAM has no XMP profile.

CPU spread spectrum is a third. Now if you live near a cell tower or broadcast TV transmitter, or even your own wireless router can cause disturbing electromagnetic noise. So the normal 100.0 BLCK is set to 100.3 to 103.0. Conflicting with this is the fact those non normal BCLKs may itself cause instability. I have found that in my particular system manually setting BCLK to 100.0 and disabling spread spectrum is better. (You cant set BCLK to 100 with spread spectrum on - at least with MY bios version) To stop dual boots for me, I just have to also disable PLL overvolt, set CIE C3 "auto" and C6 enabled.

I once saw a poster who had the endless reboot and it turned out to be an older DVD drive not being detected.

I personally never use the full logo option, turning that off slows down the boot a bit, gives the bios a bit of breathing room, and I can see whats detected by bios.

Another issue is that ASUS is listening to complaints and changing bios, (espec "auto" settings) so what might be needed with one bios might need something else in a later bios, or not needed at all.

Double or triple bootin does not actually hurt anything fwiw.
 
The jumper to clear the CMOS is along the bottom of the board by the LED and should be labeled CLRTC.

For the double boot issue I would make sure both the EPU and TPU switches are set to the disabled setting, make sure you are using the newest BIOS, and then clear the CMOS. Once this is done, load the defaults, then manually set your RAM timings as per manufacturer specifications and test it out. (don't use auto and don't try the OC tuner)

This is how I have my P8P67 Pro (B3 Rev 3.0) set and I do not have double boot issues.

Just as a FYI, after a CMOS clear, BIOS update, or if you disable/enable an onboard controller - you may get a double boot the next time the system starts only one time - I find that's normal for me.
