Ok. I just finished building a new PC from the discount items in the hot deals page and I have a problem trying to enable the boost feature on the microphone. I installed Win XP home, the drivers from the CD and tried the latest ones from realtek.
With everything I have tried the advanced controlles option in the recording control menu is greyed out. I even tried to follow the procedure on [H]ard enthusiast's P5W DH review but the advanced option is still greyed out.
Asus told me to reinstall windows, But that did not help. However I can now dual boot windows XP with windows XP
.
The system is a
P5W DH (bios 1407)
Intel E6600
Ballistix 2GB DDR2 800
ATI x1800
1x cdrom
1x fdd (for the sata grrrr)
1x cardreader
2xseagate 400GB sata
In a coolermaster case with the front panel connected to the high def connectors on the MB
Thanks
{EDIT}
Solution:
In the Master Volume window for realtek HD audio ouput, select Options -> Properties.
In the Properties window I checked "front pink in" and "rear pink in" volume controls and pressed OK.
Back in the Master Volume window, I can now select Options->Advanced Controls for audio outputs. This expands the Master Volume window to include columns for "Front Pink In" and "Rear Pink In". Selecting the Advanced buttons, available under the new columns, windows appear (named Advanced Controls for Front Pink In
-- some how appropriate for [H]ardForums -- use your imagination for the other title
) that allow the microphone boost to be enabled. (Why this option is in the Master Volume window not the Recording Window is beyond me.)
The small problem left is that the boost microphone option in CounterStrike has no effect at all, but since I always leave the microphone boost enabled through the Master Volume window (or where ever it is) it doesn't really bother me. Honest.....
