So i picked up a 6550 and i threw it in my p5k deluxe with OCZ 1066 ram and i have it at 3535mhz right now (7X505) at stock voltage. i've let it run orthos all day and it's rock solid (8.5hrs) but if i try to bump it up anymore, it seems that it won't post. anyone else have trouble getting far past the 500mhz fsb?? i think this chip still has lots of room left (g0 stepping). maybe i'll try the volts but i wanna see if many people get above 500fsb.

I can't get mine past about 480-485. I POSTed, booted XP and ran an hour of Prime95 at 480, but the computer won't boot (it freezes loading XP or BSODs) at 490, regardless of the NB voltage. This was with my Q6600 (tested at 3.6 and higher) at a 6x multi, so it defiantly wasn't the CPU, and the RAM too has been tested at much higher freq.

Anyone have any advice?

I'm having the same problem you guys are having. I hit a wall right about 510FSB with my E6550. With the Q6600 I'm running 423FSB.

Its all about the MCH/northbridge, 490ish boot, 482ish to windows but not stable despite doing everything but water cool the MCH. I see a few people/reviews get 500+ but I think its very rare. Just my impression from what I have seen posted etc.

brutal!!

i know this chip has more in it... i thought this board went up higher than that.
