so i have a decent 860 overclock but my ram is driving me crazy
:mad:http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=243:mad:
Ripjaws F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM

current OC (wanna get RAM higher):
bclk 170, cpu@3.74(22x), qpi@6.12(36x), ram@1340 9-9-9-24-1T(8x), uncore@3060mhz(locked@18x)
vcore@1.2875, vtt@1.19, pch@1.05, pll@1.8, dram@1.5

i can get my computer to post and make a good attempt at loading windows at 1980mhz by doing the following:
bclk 165, cpu@3.63(22x), qpi@5.94(36x), ram@1980 9-9-9-25-2T(12x),uncore@2970mhz(locked@18x)
vcore@1.2875, vtt@1.19, pch@1.05, pll@1.8, dram@1.64

now's the interesting part

this will not even post:
bclk 165, cpu@3.63(22x), qpi@5.94(36x), ram@1650 9-9-9-25-2T(12x),uncore@2970mhz(locked@18x)
vcore@1.2875, vtt@1.19, pch@1.05, pll@1.8, dram@1.64

i'm on a ga-p55-ud3r (F5 bios), is there a bug with the 10x ram multi's or something?? how can my system load to desktop and then BSOD at 1980 and not post at 1650 when literally nothing else has changed?

updated to F6 bios no luck.

SuperPI 2M stable:
bclk 161, cpu@3.54(22x), qpi@5.79(36x), ram@1932 9-9-9-25-2T(12x), uncore@2898mhz(locked@18x)
vcore@1.2875, vtt@1.19, pch@1.05, pll@1.8, dram@1.6(managed without 1.64v)

SuperPI 2M stable:
bclk 160, cpu@3.52(22x), qpi@5.76(36x), ram@1600 9-9-9-25-2T(10x), uncore@2880(locked@18x)
vcore@1.2875, vtt@1.19, pch@1.05, pll@1.8, dram@1.6v

WONT POST:
bclk 161, cpu@3.54(22x), qpi@5.79(36x), ram@1610 9-9-9-25-2T(10x), uncore@2898mhz(locked@18x)
vcore@1.2875, vtt@1.19, pch@1.05, pll@1.8, dram@1.6v

I have the same board and ram as you do. I am running fine at 180 blk (20) and 10 ratio with memory at 1800 megahertz.

thanks man! good to know its not the board, but what could be goin on?? it just doesn't make sense lol i could understand if maybe i was trying different bclks but with everything the same between 10 and 12 i can't post at 10x yet increasing the multi to 12x and running what should be a less stable system boots windows and makes it through superpi? lowering multi's should make a system post, not raising them. i even tried lowering my qpi and cpu multi's, setting ram multi to 10 and bumping up bclk to 180 just to see if it NEEDED the extra speed from the ram but doesn't do it and dropping multi down to 8 works great at 161 bclk...only the 10x multi is havin issues

EDIT:
think of it this way. your overclocking and stable at 160bclk. let's try 161, won't post so I...make my ram run at 1900 instead of 1600 and now it works?!?

i gotta post! will report back asap

EDIT: seems to have been an issue with the more advanced ram timings, it actually enjoyed the tighter timings so loosening them wasn't helping. odd set of ram these sticks are! :p
