Hey guys,

This is the second board this has happened to, and we're not sure if it's a compatibility problem or just a bad batch of boards.

I work in a computer store and we're setting up a system with the following:

ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe
2xOCZ 512MB DDR400
P4 2.8Ghz, 1MB Cache
2x80GB Western Digital IDE

For some reason, whenever we use the Promise raid controller, we get memery errors in memtest, if we disconnect the drives, run them out of raid no errors at all. If we use the SATA/Intel RAID, no errors.

We've tried various raid configurations, 0/1. The only way to make the errors go away is to turn off the raid or put the drives master/secondary.

We've tried a variety of different memory sticks and are positive that it's not that.

Any ideas and or suggestions?

Maybe flash the BIOS on the board and/or RAID controller to the latest revision?

I don't know about memtest, but I know Microsoft's memory diagnostic doesn't like the Promise controller.

Memtest86+ might work. It didn't report any errors when I used it, but it was a little glitchy in that the completion meter went over 100%. It could have been the fact that I was running the extended tests instead of standard, but I'm not positive.
