P4C Overclocking vCore?

I have a P4C (Northwood) 3.0Ghz chip. I'm not sure what stepping it is.

If I wanted to O/C to 3.5 - 3.6Ghz, what would an acceptable voltage be? Just a ballpark is fine. RAM is not an issue, as I will be testing in 5:4 until I get my new sticks.
 
Mine is stable at 1.6V when set at 3.0Ghz (250x12) and 1.675V at 3.2Ghz (250x13). I have read that you shouldnt set a northwood over 1.65V or you could experience SNDS so I keep it at a cool 3.0Ghz to play nice.
 
1.7v and under you should be good. SNDS was more of a problem with the "B" series Northwoods. With the 2.4c @ 3.6ghz that i have in my second computer i keep it around 1.65-1.7v with air cooling. It's been running that way for the last 2 years. 1.6v should probably be plenty to get you to 3.5-3.6
 
As far as I know keeping it below 1.7 is a safe bet for the Northwood core cpu's. ;)

FWIW:

My 2.4c m0 will do 283 fsb (3.4GHz) at 1.575vore, 1.525 is stock. Can post at up to 300fsb/3.6GHz at 1.625 but don't wanna flog this little Gallatin too hard.

The 3.2 Northie likes juice! Default in BIOS is 1.55vcore and it will run 238fsb (3.8) or so on 1.575 but quickly wants 1.625+ if u wanna run in the 4GHz neighborhood.
 
One of my systems is a p 2.4c oc'ed generally run it at 3.4ghz with stock voltage :)
 
Anything under 1.7v with good air or water cooling. Over 1.7v and you should have some sort of sub-ambient cooling.

My 2.4c m0 does 3.4 with 1.55v

Asus mobo by chance? The P4C800 Deluxe I used to have would put insanely high voltage to my components at stock settings - my 2.4c would do 3.4 @ stock vcore setting on that board all day long - and the 3.2 would do 3.8+. Never mind the incredibly low (and not real believable) cpu temps.

The Abit IC7-Max3 tends to slightly under-report component voltages and over-report CPU temps by comparison.
 
Depends on the stepping. Mine has a stock vcore of 1.475. This chip can do 4ghz on air at 1.55-1.575 vore. At 1.6 and above heat will start to become a real problem with that chip.
 
I`ve used a 3.0C and 3.2C (both 30cap) Exos AL cooled.
No problem at 1.6v on Vcore, both hit 3.6 easy using my old Abit AI7.
