p45 and crossfire

I know this has been asked lots of times, but a conclusion never really seemed to appear.
Is the P45 really limiting 4800 crossfire or was the early tests influenced by faulty bios, drivers or similar? It seems kinda weird if the x8 bandwidth isnt enough.

Answers are highly appreciated, want to pick a motherboard in a few days.
