Why are gamers buying EE when most benchmarks have the processor at no more than a 5-10% increase performance difference from the competition?

When you have the money, ever frame counts.
This is not an AMD -Intel arguement.

My friend won one at a LAN and traded me for my old 9800 Pro (2-3 years use) and 512 ram ahaha ;D

Did he just refuse to use Intel or what?

I am going to get a Dual Core Extreme Edition when they come out.... No questions asked... Even if its 1200$... Becuase For what I do.. It will be fast... and no matter what I do.... no matter how many things I have running at one time, It will be fast.... and thats all I need. I dont care about Frame Rates... Since I only play very few games anyway

whoa! who gives anyone free P4 EE's these days?

Believe it or not Intel. I've whitnessed it at a few Intel training sessions and conferences for resellers and for retail stores. Intel actually gave out 20 some odd processors and they gave away a Centrino notebook also.

The processors they gave out included Xeons and 550 P4's and 2 Extreme Edition CPU's. One socket 478 and one LGA775.

That doesn't surprise me one bit. Giving out 20 processors is to Intel as giving someone a dollar for a cup of coffee is to many of us ;)
