im wondering if anyone has seen a bracket converter that will allow you to mount a P4 heatsink on a socket A with the 4 holes around the socket. i know the holes around the AMD socket are different demensions than those around the P4 sockets.

the reason i ask is i want to get a new heatsink for my socket A CPU, and i want to get either the Zalman 7700-cu or the thermalright XP-120.

i just noticed that the mounting hardware for the socket A on the 7000-cu looks like it would work for the 7700-cu. is their anywhere i can buy the mounting hardware seperate? or is their anyone out their that isnt using their socket A mounting hardware from their 7000?

well zalman will send you the mounting hardware. I dont think it will work though as the 7700 has a 120mm integrated and the mounting hardware was designed for the integrated 92mm.

if you look at the mounting video for both they are identicle. and the 7700 and 7000 both work on the old socket 478 for P4's.

i bet you 50 bucks you can take the mounting hardware for the socket A from the 7000 and it will mount perfectly with the 7700

try it then :) zalman will give you the mounting bracket for free. though the mounting bracket on the base of the 7700 is different than the 7000.
