I have in my hands 2 p4 2.8 ghz socket 775 Chips they were free. SL7J5 and a SL7PR the 2nd one is an E0 Stepping. I'm just wondering what the OC legs are on these chips I know they will never be anything more than a P4 but i thought they'd be fun to play with. From what i can remember the prob with OCing these back in the day was finding a board that could get them enough power for a decent OC and getting rid of the heat they generate.

Has anything changed would they OC well in a GIGABYTE GA-EP43-UD3L LGA 775

With a S1283 on it for some cooling.

This isn't for like my main rig just something to mess around with since the chips are free.
 
The one great thing about the Prescotts is that they were great overclockers if you had a good board and sufficient cooling. You'll probably be able to hit 3.8GHz or more with that setup.
