Does anyone know if a laptop processor will work in a desktop?I am refering to pentium 4 478 laptop not any other chips.

They do yes, (but a quick search on google should have revealed that for you)... P4M have speedstep built in and so only run @ 12x multiplier on desktop boards, I've had plenty and the later D0 stepping work best and I used to run them between 3.0Ghz and 3.6Ghz like that a couple of years back, Mobile Celerons are better if you ask me as they don't have speedstep on them and so don't require such silly bus speeds plus they are dirt cheap off Ebay. Get a D0 stepping and go for it.

yeah, htey do... but get the D0 stepping, i cant get my C1 stable at 3ghz for the life of me (ive tried up to 1.95v, the max of my board)

As always stepping is pot luck, but a resonable guide... I've had C1s do 3.5Ghz and D0s stop @ 3.2Ghz, so no guarentees....But the general rule, the later the chip the better.
