Hi I have an Inspiron 8500 laptop with a P4-m 2.4Ghz processor. I recently purchased guild wars and have been noticing a problem. In the middle of the game SpeedStep will kick in for no apparent reason (the temp at the time it does this is only 75C, which is much lower than I normally run at load in other games. Anyways, it will throttle down to 1/2 speed for like 5 minutes (for as long as it takes for the processor to drop in temp like 30 degrees, then it will go back up to normal...then a bit later it will throttle down again.
As I have said, I do not experience this problem in any other game, and have run the processor at much higher temps than this problem seems to be occuring at. (the processor is rated for 100C). I looked in the BIOS for a way to disable SpeedStep and it said that if I disabled it that the processor would run at the lowest available setting.
Does anyone know what is wrong with my processor/guild wars? And how I can force my processor to keep running at full speed?
