I have a AMD 64-2800 now but can get a really great dell on a system with an Intel P4 630.

I have search for reviews that says it's that much better. This is basically a gaming system. nothing else.

thx

At stock speed, the 630 is probably faster than the A64 2800+ in almost everything.

The 2800+ is a S754 processor, so it only supports single channel memory.

I know people hate THG, but the CPU chart is pretty handy: http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu.html?modelx=33&model1=261&chart=74&model2=211

Flip through the benchmarks. It's pretty sad that the 630 loses a couple of gaming benchmarks, but is otherwise faster in other gaming benchmarks and applications.

If your current motherboard is overclockable, why not just overclock it? There are various nforce 3 and nforce 4 overclocking utilities even if your board has no overclocking options. You may or may not be able to overclock the Dell (some boards support 1066MHz FSB, and 3GHz to 4GHz is pretty iffy).

thx PXC

well, my existing 64-2800 system is
DFI nF3 250Gb
AMD64 2800
2 x 512 Patriot PDP TCCP RAM

I am buying a DELL system because I can get a P4 630, 512Mb etc WITH a
2007FP monitor for only $599 new !

and thought, well, would it be worth me to sell my AMD system and keep the Dell (ya ya) or sell the Dell and cut my loses... or in this case savings
