P4 3.6 or PD 3.0

I'd go with the 3.0 PD because the extra core is VERY nice to have, and in the end you can overclock the PD to match the P4 anyway. An extra core is going to be more useful than a small bit of clock speed.
 
As of now, not a lot of games make good use of the second core but we see some titles and patches here and there that start taking advantage of it. The P4 3.6 would be faster due to their higher clock speed but despite this I would believe the PD is a better buy since it is dual core and is more future proofed. These pressler are extremely overclockable, many people overclock them over 4GHz easy. You can overclock it to 3.6 (and up) and then it will be the same clock speed, plus you have another spare 3.6 hehe.

No benefit in games really, but in general (as mentioned) you can overclock that chip to 3.6 anyway. Pentium D it is.
 
There IS SOME benefit in games. Nvidia & ATI both tweaked their drivers to harness SOME of the power of the 2nd core. Granted its only like 10% or less in most cases. Not the nearly 100% improvement of a truly optimized app.

Looking forward the dual core will be much more powerful as more & more programs including games are designed with dual cores in mind.

Pretty much all 900's do 3.6Ghz easily and most 800's will do 3.6Ghz with good cooling.

So my vote is 100% for the dual core. Preferrably 920 as its got the perfect ratio for cranking it up to 266FSB (1066) @ 3.73Ghz just like the 965 XE and they usually do it at default voltage!!! (at least mine did!)
 
yea, 930 or 805 both can do 3.6 easy. In fact, my 805 hit 3.99Ghz before I hit a RAM limitation with my GeIL RAM, but I've got off that 1 stick. That 930 should be able to go far with a good board and some nice RAM.
