P4 3.0c vs amd 64 3000+

Hi, Im about to built to a new system to use with the new games out(Far Cry Painkiller) or about to be out (Doom 3).
Ive got everything worked and finished except for the processor. Im gonning to use it mainly for gaming and have been really stumped on which would be better. The P4 runs faster and gets better scores in apps and video editing but If I remeber right the AMD wins slightly in games. If either one has some distinct advantages plz let me know and your own opinion, both are about the same price (205-220) I believe.

I would go with the A64. It's more future-proof, not sure if it will really matter since when 64-bit really goes mainstream the 3000+ will be obsolete, but at least it will run the stuff, unlike the Intel.
