P4 2.8C Overclocking Help!

I currently have a 2.8C with a CoolerMaster JET 4 HSF, ASUS P4P800SE (Bios 1007, looks like theres a 1008 out...), Aspire 500 watt PSU, OCZ 512x2 PC-3200 2-3-2-5 1T. I have managed to overclock it to 2.8C to 3.29 ghz with the voltage (as said by motherboard) at 1.5875v, ram at 5:4 ratio, and FSB at 235 mhz. However CPUZ shows voltage to be at around 1.648 or 1.664v. Idle temp is at around 34c. Not sure what the upper limit of the vcore should be at, because I have read on some forums that people are saying not to go over 1.525, even though that is the default voltage for my P4. Other people have said somewhere around 1.725 is the highest for really good air cooling.

What should I NEVER go over in terms of voltage for my P4? Does a higher voltage decrease the life of my chip even if the temperatures are within 3-5C of default setting temperatures?

Also, I have been trying to overclock my chip even more (trying to get to 3.43 ghz) at 240 mhz. At 240 mhz I have to set my voltage to 1.6v in bios (1.664v in CPUZ) but I will crash about 5 minutes after boot. If I set it to 1.625 my computer doesn't even post. Well, actually I'm not sure if it isn't posting. What happens is that my computer will restart after changing the setting in bios, then my monitor just goes off and into power saving mode. My computer looks like it is still doing work but there is no video. I am not sure if it is posting and booting up as normal but without any video but I haven't left my computer on to see if it ever booted up and stopped activity. What is causing this? Do I have enough power? Too much voltage? Or just some other limitation? I am fairly sure that ram is not the problem, seeing as how it doesn't even post after adding more voltage but boots up fine when it is lowered, although it is still a possibility.

So if you're already too hot, (around 64C at full load / Prime95) then more volts isn't going to help. It sounds like you might need better cooling or back down your volts.

My 2.4C does 3.4Ghz at 1.525v, 3.45Ghz @ 1.55v and 3.6Ghz @ 1.6v

Then my 2.8C in my Shuttle which I haven't really pushed does
3.1Ghz @ 1.525v, 3.2++ @ 1.55v (++ b/c its stable at 3.2Ghz but runs hot and the fans spin up too much, and under Prime95 its at 63C the whole time with the fans on max.)

The 2.8C would probably do 3.25-3.3+ in a better case with a better HSF.

You would think the 2.8C would do better since its 400Mhz default faster, but you never know. Its luck of the draw with overclocking. You might just have hit your chip's limit, or maybe you're trying too much voltage. (like many people do)
 
Well I have a P4P800 Deluxe and 2.8C so I'm in a similar situation. Personally, say I put my Vcore at 1.54 ok? At desktop the vcore will read around 1.62ish, however if I run a load like Prime95 which taxes the CPU, it droops to around the 1.54 I set it at. Rather odd, but thats my experiences and I have spent a ton of time messing with it.
 
It's apparently normal for P4P800 boards to exhibit lower vcores under load. Only way to solve this is to perform a droop mod. It's similar with my P4P800-E Deluxe.

I myself am having abit of a problem getting past 255 FSB with my 2.4C while keeping Prime stable. If I forget Prime stability, I cam get 275 at just under 1.6v.

I haven't seen ANY difference in temperatures at all between overclocks in idle and full load. My idle temperatures have been around 32c and full load at around 47c. Even from default 2.8ghz it is very similar at around 30c idle and 47 full load. My motherboard shows the same temperature as my asus probe does as well as my temperature readouts on my case (however these have a 4c +/- margin of error)
