I'm having problems ocing my cpu and setting my timings for my ram.
When I change my timing from auto to manual and set them at 2.5-6-2-3 (and boot successfully) using cpu-z, it somehow got pushed back to default, and infact when i reboot to check in bios, they did. Now for the cpu. I set the clock up to about 3.2 and set my voltage to 1.6v save and reboot. CPU clocks at 2793.1mhz. So im thinking that i just pushed it too far, so i clock it down to 3gig, no luck and to 2.9 and still no luck. Any ideas? (take it easy, im a noob :( )

EDIT : also on 450W psu

lol me too mines not seeming to make 215x16 = 3440/860 = its stable at 213 though and 214 isnt an option becuase it jumps to 214.8 or 215.......

Do you have the max3? 2.8 pressy or northy? Updated bios? Just getting some info, because if you look at my sig, i'll let you know what I did/do to OC. Does it complete windows boot, post, or does it complete windows boot and your system is always booted at original?

Northwood, regular Abit-IC7, latest bios and 71.84 nvidia drivers ( just incase you were wondering :D )
Windows boots successfully everytime except when setting ram timings using the F1 Turbo or Racer settings :-\

Ok set your timings to what you want then find the setting that say like Auto-auto-auto-auto-auto. Thos are the ones you set to F1, right? Well set them to this A-A-A-D-D d for disable. Then try to see what happens, also do not forget to upp your ram voltage also, it's a 2 part oc... Remember that as you increase you FSB to OC your cpu, you are also OCing your mem. You have it at 1: or 5:4?

my ram voltage is at 2.8 and the ratio is at 5:4 but is always getting reset to default :(
but i will try those settings and let you know

Try 1:1 and slowly go up with your OC. I think its your ram, but we'll see.

k changed the timing settings like you said, and pushed the cpu to just 2.9ghz, and still no change in the clock when booted up

Edit : also the ram timings and ratio's keep getting reset to SPD.

Hmm. try using 2.5,7,3,3 or just leave it at spd and then just up the FSB. Seems as though it's not saving your bios settings... OHHHH DUH, what about a bad battery on your mobo? That WOULD cause your setting to constantly be reset to default! That may be the problem, how old is the mobo? Anyone else with some backup on the problem? I would think that if you had set the cpu to something it couldn't do, then you wouldn't post, but if the battery is dead and won't save the jacked up bios, you'd post all day long and at the defaulted bios settings. Do you have a watchdog type bios? Pretty sure it's the battery though. Try turning off the intel branding and see if it shows back up the next time you boot. A simple test to see if it's saving your bios settings!

i cant believe i didnt think of that, and your right, the settings arent being saved. This mobo isn't OLD but its not new. Bought 2 of the same ones because i was going to build 2 machines, and never got around to the 2nd one and just swapped the mobo's about a month ago because the other shorted out.. and what are the odds that i threw the other away w/ the battery :( thanks for the advice, ill see if i can find another mobo lying around :D
