i'm running a 2.6 GHz P4 and dual pc3200 512 MB corsair xms chips, any suggestions for mobos to buy. I heard Abit is a good choice. I guess just post suggestions of make and model. thanks to any who help me out

From what I read Abit is a great motherboard, Asus is also well known you will have to research which suits your needs.
Check out this link http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NjAz

The only one I have experience with:
Im running a MSI PT 880 Neo, it overclocks very well and also cheap $65-$75.

My system:
MSI PT 880 Neo
Prescott [email protected] 18*195fsb stock cooling fan that came with the processor
512 OCZ PC 4000 1:1 timing 2.5.4.4.7
64 meg GForce4 MX440
WD 100 Gig hard drive
6 case fans no sides or top on case also my personal fan directed right at it.
Idle temp 44c full load 62c
Put it through every test out there been running rock solid for about 3 weeks im in the process of installing a water cooling system Im sure it will do a bit better
I am extremly happy with this system

Abit AI7.....no mods needed......
Asus P4P800-E DX....simple mods....

Either would serve you well.........

I've had my 4PDA2+ rev.2 for a week and a half now, and I have to say even after building 150+ computers with a wide range of brand/model boards, this new one is simply spectacular, best I've laid my hands on. It's very very well built, packed with upgradability options, perfectly stable so far, and a tweaker / overclocker's dream.

Here's a couple of pics I took of what you get with the board (A LOT), and the board up close:
