I have had this 2.4b processor for awhile and I have been buying stuff to make another machine. A friend gave me a motherboard that he RMA'ed and he want s to sell his processor for 50 bucks. He has a 2.4c.

My question is?

1: Will there be a big preformance difference if I go to the 2.4c from the 2.4b?

2: Does Hyperthreading make that big a difference in the same speed processor?

3: Is 50 bucks worth it for the processor? No heaksink is included. But I get the pretty sticker that came with it.

The motherboard he gave me is a MSI 865PE-Neo2 Motherboard. I am getting some OCZ pc3500 memory so it should overclock fine right?

Any help would be greatly accepted.

Thanks in advance.

1. Yes, but not from Hyperthreading. More from the 800 FSB and DDR400 support.

2. A small one, but ONLY in mutlithreaded applications.

3. I'd pay $50 for it. Most 2.4c's overclock like nobody's business, too.

No not bad at all. I had my 2.4b up to 2.8. that is all I could get. But I was using pc-2700.

I'd go for it, nevermind about the heatsink, you'll most likely end up getting a after market anyways. I'm totally satisfied with my 2.4C.It runs at 3.4ghz, and stable with air cooling. I can't say anything about the motherboard though, I use abit ic7-g.
