P35 doesn't support PCIe RAID card?

My Dell perc 5/i SAS RAID card cannot work with the ASUS P5K Deluxe.
The system cannot boot with the 5/i in each of two PCIe x16 slot.
My friend has the same issue on his new GIGABYTE P35-DS4.

Since the 5/i card used to work well with our GIGABYTE P965-DS4 & ASUS P5B-Plus, I think it should be the P35 chipset that cannot support the PCIe RAID card.

Is there anyone else has the same issue?
Can anyone recommend a mainboard for my Perc 5/i?

Thanks a lot!

have you tried diabling the onboard SATA? this may be necessary as BIOS will enumerate the onboard devices before going to the expansion slots. Also, make sure that in your boot options, you have the Add-On cards option in the list of available boot devices, and also check that "Boot Other Device" is enabled. I don't know where the option is on that board, since I don't own one, but it would logically be in a Boot setting menu.

I don't have any SATA HDD drives, there's only a SATA DVD-ROM and it works well.

The problem is the system boot with no video output once I plug the 5/i in the PCI-e slot.
I even didn't have a chance to see the boot screen since the monitor LED showed there was no singal at all.

After I removed the 5/i, everything's ok.

BTW, the "boot other devices" was surely enabled, I've checked this item and "enabled" is the default setting and I haven't ever change it.

Thanks a lot anyway.

I have the same problem with PERC 5/i on a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P. have you managed to figure this out? Are there any other cheap SAS controllers that WILL work? For example the LSI 8204ELP?

I'm interested in this issue. I was considering purchase of a P35 motherboard. I'm also running a Dell Perc 5/i SAS card.

I have ran into other issues with this card. I cannot get into the cards configuration on my A8NSLI Deluxe. I have to put the card/drives into my sons nForce 4.
