For use as a monitor and a TV, most likely half-half, which do you think is better - the P2770HD or a good name-brand 32-inch 1080p TV?

i have the p2770 non HD version. Its a faster panel more aimed at PC gamers. And i LOVE it.. the pixel size at first bothered me alot. screen door effect. But after a few weeks, i dont notice it anymore and would not trade this for a smaller LCD ever.

The screen-door effect would be far more evident on the 32".

And yet there are many people who have 32" TV's as monitors on these forums.

I recommend going into a store and taking a look at the 32" TV in question, as well as doing some research on that particular model here and on avsforum.

If this is for gaming, there are a few 32" TVs that are particularly well suited (and new name brand 32" 1080p TVs tend to be very good with movie), including the Sharp 32LE700UN (very low input lag and almost no blur), and some of the 32" Panasonic and LG LCDs (read up on IPS / PVA panel lottery for the latter, though).

I find screendoor (i.e gap between lit pixels) is not very visible on the Sharp, although you can see pixel structure if you sit too close. At ~2-3 feet it's very usable, but it depends on your eyesight (mine is 20/20).

It's not for gaming. It's just that it's a not a huge desk and I like to sit close to my monitor, so 32" seems daunting.
