P182 Problem

I am trying to upgrade my p182se and I figured the PSU was the first place to start see that it is an old 250 Watt from an Acer. I used one of those online PSU calculators online and got about 650 Watts for all the parts I am going to get. Since I was right at 650 Watts I was going to jump to the 700 - 750 Watt PSU, and my problem is I do not know if it is going to fit in the case. I want to keep the fan located between HDD bay and the PSU because I am going to put 4 7200 RPM 2TB drives down there and I want to make sure they stay cool. Any input would be appreciated. I have looked around of this for but I could never find a for sure answer because not many people take pictures of there PSU when they are showing off their computer.
 
Just about any normal 750W PSU will fit inside the Antec P182 just fine. Though for easier usage, get a modular 750W PSU.
 
I just did not know if there would be any fan interference with that size PSU and I do want to go with a modular PSU so I can have a clean look in my case. I just kept hearing about clearance problems with that fan and I want to avoid that issue.

Shouldn't be too bad of an interference as long as you know how to tuck away tand route he PSU cables well.
 
Ok thanks alot that helps me out. What about cable length do most of the newer PSU have long enough 24 pin and 8 pin to reach the top of the case without and extension?

Most new PSUs should have enough length to reach the 24Pin and 8Pin connectors.
 
I've got a P182. My S12D 850W fit perfectly, even with the middle fan (though I drilled that out later). To get the 8 pin to fit with my P6T SE board, I had to turn the PSU upside down (so the fan is blowing down).

Modular would definitely have been much, much easier. Highly suggest you go that route.
 
I have the answer for you:

I have no trouble fitting the Corsair HX750 into the P180 v1.1 (basically same as P182), but after I put the PSU in, I had trouble fitting the plastic bracket that houses the 120mm case fan in the bottom slot. The flap of the plastic housing (where you push to unhook/remove from the case) hits the PSU before I can secure it in place. If I use a lot of force I bet I can get it in, but I'm afraid I'll have equal problem getting it out. Plus the plastic housing blocks all access to my modular cables. So if you're thinking of getting any 750W, I would avoid the modular Corsair HX750W simply because it's a longer PSU than the typical non-modular PSUs. When I get home I can get pics up if you want to see it.


**EDIT** Ok I take some of what I said back. It's not the plastic handle that prevents you from putting in the 120mm case fan, it's the thickness of the fan + the thickness of the plastic housing that makes it very difficult to install the fan after installing the HX750. As you can see in pics below, I have to leave out the plastic housing and use the modular cables to 'push' against the 120mm fan so it can stay in place (because like you, I want a fan there to cool the HDs down). The HX750 is longer than the normal TX750 or any normal length PSU (according to this site, HX750/HX850 are 18cm deep, whereas typical PSU are 15cm deep). You can get them all to work, you'll just have to install the fan (with a grill to protect the fins from the PSU cables) onto the plastic housing, then install into the case, then install the PSU with all modular cables already plugged in. Too big of a hassle for me to recommend anyone to do it.
