P182 Ambient Temps

What kind of ambient temps are you getting?

I have four low-speed case fans that ramp up from 600rpm to 1,200rpm upon load. The rest of the specs are in my sig. I'm idling at 40C ambient, and it reaches 50C load. Would those be considered normal for Connecticut, with 65F weather outside?

It's going to depend on what your ambient temp is inside your house, ie room temp. I would assume that the 65F outside temp is going to be different than your inside temp.

What are you using to read the ambient temp inside your case? I would doubt that the "ambient" temp inside your case is 40C(104F). Plus the ambient temp isn't what you should be worrying about, it's the cpu core temperature you should be looking at.

Room temp around the house is 72F. My room is under a heating unit, though, so its temperature varies noticeably from the rest of the house. A/C is not on yet, BTW.

I'm taking the ambient temp from SpeedFan. Do I need to use a real temperature probe?

CPU cores are 36-40C idle, 54C load. Last night, my SmartFan sensor wasn't working, so the fans never ramped up and one core reached 63C after 10 seconds of Orthos.

I've been running a watercooled P182 with 3 tri-cool fans (2 front, 1 top) for about 9 months now and the temps are usually 5C over ambient (23.5c ambient right now) with the CPU at 28c and the motherboard at 31c.
