i was wondering how some people im reading are putting fans in the lower chamber in front of the hard drives...i was considering taking the lower chamber 120mm fan and put it as intake in front cause i dont have the upper drive cage in as i dont need it...i have 3 hard drives in the lower chamber cage...if i took it out i would need a fan to cool down those 3 hard drives and was wondering how i would mount a fan in that area....from what i see it doesnt seem possible to mount anything...of course i can just get another 120mm for intake and keep the 120 in its position but i wanted to avoid buying another 120 and using the 1 in there...if someone has some tips or what you think i should do lemme know

there's a thread here with some info which will help. Short story, you're not getting a 120x120x25mm fan connected to the lower chamber in the front while retaining the drive bay. (I've seen one person say they've done it..but then they use the term "had to force it in"..heh

screw that. I want my computer functional. Ain't no forcin' nothin.

Considering the HDs should be able to be cooled by the PSU alone, I'm thinking any airflow is good airflow regardless of the height/width. So the trick is finding fans that are less than 25mm wide.

So far my only contenders are panaflo and Sanyo Denki San Ace 80mm fans that are 15mm wide. If anyone knows of some decent 15mm wide fans bigger than 80mm I'd love to see links.
 
well i got the xclio goodpower 500 and it cools itself well with the 120mm fan in it so im not worried about that. i tried moving the fan yesterday and the drives after a bit seemed a bit hot so id like to cool them down instead of just using the airflow in front of the case.
how would the fan mount even if you could get one smaller than 25cm? i was thinking about adding a 90 or 80mm fan also as i had some laying around but they wont work either.
guess if i cant come up with something ill just get another 120mm fan and leave the one in bottom chamber alone. thx for your reply
 
no problem. another idea would be to mod some 60mm fans together.

probably would be noisy as hell though after it's all said and done.

Try ductaping the holes around the psu to make the psu fan force air through the hard drives more.
 
does it matter in which way you mount the power supply with the 120mm up or down in the case? i have it mounted with the fan on the bottom and if i did this i was wondering if that mattered
