Ok guys my P180 case should be here in a few days.

Here are the specs i'm thinking about:
X2 3800+
7800gtx
2X1gb ballistix
2 sata II drives
2 ide drives
Powerstream 520W
Zalman 9500 (if it turns out good) or xp90

I'm planning to OC everything pretty much so i want the best air cooling i can get.

So here are my questions:

#1 Do you guys think it would be worth modding the case to get a 2nd intake fan in the front as seen here: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=939867&highlight=p180+mod

#2 What would be the best method of cooling the RAM (rubberbands?)?

#3 Is it worth buying a 80X15mm fan for the vga duct?

#4 I will be ordering a panaflo L1a 120mm fan for the front intake(s) and will leave the stock tricools, good plan? I have 2 fan controllers which can control 3 fans (cooldrive 6).

#5 anything i'm missing?

#1: Yes. You can also see how to do it in my thread as well.
#2: How do reubberbands cool RAM?
#3: No. 99.99% of the people with that case simply rip out the duct and toss it in the garbage.
#4: Personally, I like all my fans to match. Up to you though.
#5: Put grills on all your fans. Especially the fan(s) down by your power supply. Don't want any wires rubbing on the blades!

Ah thanks.... in terms of noise & airflow do you think that the tricools are sufficient? do you agree with my choice if i were to replace (a) fan(s) (panaflow L1A)
I found your thread it looks really really nice... would getting 120X120X25mm fans help the hd cage fit better tahn 38mm fans?

Thanks for the advice :)

1. Unless your that much of a temp freak, no
2. Real RAM cooling modules
3. No, 99% it is ripped out, its useless
4. Should be fine
5. Set it up and enjoy it. Thats i'll ive done. No more modding or bling bling for me, quiet and elegance is all I want in a case nowadays.

Well the only reason for it would have been to overclock a little bit more if i could hehe or rather not be worried about the amount that i have overclocked =P

i dunno about ram cooling, but i dont use any.

and if you attempt the mods i done, make sure to do them before you build your comp because i wasted hours taking apart my setup and doing the mod, then putting it all back. unnecessary effort but i was happy with my drop in hd temps.

the widening of the slit in the lower mid fan part is recommended though if you want to slide your cables easier to the Hdd on the bottom. at first i didnt do this and i ripped like 2 wires jamming it in.

o and wet towels and can of air if you plan on doing any cutting to get rid of metal shavings.

i put an 80X15 fan in my duct and it helps my 7800GTX stay about 5c cooler, i guess i'm the .001% :)

I plan to get a skinny fan for mine and make comparisons. Right now all I have is a 80X25 fan.

eh, the 180 is the first case I expect to not have to mod.

Great air cooling and great sound supression out of the box. If those aren't what you're after, I'd recommend looking at a different case.

I opted to get an 80x15mm fan for the VGA duct to cool the ramsinks on my Radeon 9800 Pro. I added it to my fan controller and it is making a nice difference. While most people are tossing them out, I kept it in and it is working for me. :)

Couple other things (some are obvious and some may be mentioned elsewhere):

1. Is possible, place all your drives in the lower drive bay and leave the mid drive bay out completely to remove the blockage of airflow right in the front of the case.
2. If using a fan controller, set the Tricool fans to "high".
3. Make sure your power supply has some fairly long leads. Those top drives are miles away from the bottom. :)
4. Build the system first before you start hacking away at it. Mine is quiet with no mods (well, a fan controller is kind of a mod) and I run 50c under full load and the whole system is very quiet. With the fans all on high it there is a real humm but I only need to do that during the day during the summer.

What will I be doing to my P180 next? Well, ... nothing actually. I am very happy with the case just the way it is. ...although I did buy some splitloom recently so I may be doing some better cable management.

You're welcome for the split loom!

I just recently loomed mine in blue, but I still have a rat's nest at the bottom where the PSU wires enter the little trap door.
