The Fan on the very top that blows direclty up...if i cover that it up drastically reduces noise.

1- Should i just keep the Fan on the very top blocked
2-Should i keep the magnetic door closed? and will that hurt my fans?
 
ok heres your options for the fan
You can take the fan out - but still allowing air flow
Covering it up will - completely block air flow
Get a fan controler/ and or new fan - to help regulate the noise


As for the magnet door
not really sure what to say
If you keep it shut, air will just be sucked in from the other open areas around the case...

on my P180 (silver), the top fan and rear fan have a controller on the back of the case near the top. Does yours?

Get a slower fan or fan controller for the top. That fan does a great job of getting hot air out of the case, blocking it off or unplugging it is a bad idea. 1000 RPM on a good 120mm fan should move plenty of air and be very quiet.

There's no difference in case temps with the door closed or open and it won't hurt your fan...with the door closed, air comes in just fine from all the vents on both sides of the door frame, and it's quieter as well.

Testing with my P182 - there's a certain degree of noise when the case is on, although it's quiet. If I cover the top fan with a magazine, with the fan still running, then there's a significant reduction in noise. It seems to me like the problem is that the case has pretty decent soundproofing on its panels, but this is somewhat undermined by a large hole on the top for the fan?

But I agree that removing the fan would be a bad idea; standard ATX cases have a power supply fan to remove hot air from the top of the case, plus a rear chassis fan, so removing the top fan and blocking the vent would give the machine pretty poor cooling. Fitting a very powerful fan to the back chassis might alleviate it somewhat but that would defeat the purpose of trying to make the thing quieter.
