I assume that you are talking about Samsung SpinPoint P80s. There may potentially be a noise difference between the two, as the P120 has 2 platters while the P80 only has one. However, every Samsung drive I have (a SP1604N and a pair of SP1213Cs) has been whisper quiet even when booting/defraging/loading/etc, and they are both two platter drives. I would get the biggest drive you can afford.
