Ordered the BFG 6800GT, paid next day air shipping... said in stock...

Now says back-ordered. :(

I just sold my 9800 Pro... :(

Should I go ahead and order the eVGA one? Or wait without my main system for a while?

try evga.com. I got mine in 2 days and it came with Far Cry.

Sigh... I could, but... I really wanted the BFG. Lifetime warranty... :)

And outpost has already authorized my credit card.

I could go ahead and order the eVGA, I have room, but it wouldn't leave me with much left over. DAMNATION!

Outpost.com will never get a red penny from me and I would recommend to all to stay far far away from them. I also ordered a new card from them, but never will again.

lol.

I just ordered the eVGA. I can't go back on my 9800 Pro deal, so...

I'll keep it or sell it for a BFG later, when prices drop some :)

I was in line to get one of their limited numbers of 6800GTs they had in stock. I called twice during the day I placed the order to verify my order status and make sure there were no problems. I called later in the day and was told that my zipcode I had on the shipping address did not match what my bank had. I have this problem sometimes when ordering from online retailers. Many people do. It's because my shipping addy is not my billing addy. However, I have my shipping address on my CC as an alternate address. I have never had problems with most retailers, but sometimes I do with new ones.

Instead of calling or emailing me about this, they neglected to tell me. By the time I discovered my order was being held up while it went through their "fraud" department, it was too late to do anything about it as they had given away the 6800GT that they charged to my credit card to someone else. I was told by a rep over the phone that they were now out of the cards and wouldnt get any for weeks.

I was upset.

This happened to me with best buy. The rep on the phone was very rude about it as well.

outpost website still says in stock, but i called to get one and they said maybe 2 weeks. what a bunch of knobslobbers. at least fix the website you fools.

I ordered my GT from Outpost on Wednesday, when it was listed on the site as back-ordered... an initial email response told me they were expecting new cards on the 3rd (tomorrow), but it could be a few days later than that.

Then I got up this morning, checked my email again, and found that they had shipped it late last night w/ overnight shipping... Benching Far Cry on my other machine with it as we speak.

It's the first and only experience I've had with them, but outpost.com gets a huge recommendation from me - no other online retailer I've bought from has ever shipped a product from backorder 2 days earlier than their own estimation.

Ordered my GT from outpost by phone yesterday, got it today. Only $11 for next day shipping as opposed to $40 from evga.com. Got it installed in my system today.

This was my first purchase from Outpost, but I would definitely buy from them again.

so now what should I think? I guess they have them in stock and they aren't backordered now? so many conflicting stories, what's right?

If anyone is looking for a card, I'm selling my X800Pro that I just got. No, not to get a 6800GT, I just happened to end with some new bills and I really can't make the payment for it.

It's a Visiontek model, so it has a "Lifetime Warranty." It also overclocks easily from 475/450 to 540/570. I've had the core at 560 once, but I didn't think there was a need to go that far, especially on stock cooling. I use ATItool to find the max core and memory, both times when it was finding max I had to cancel it because it never would seem to find any artifacts even when the core was passing 565, so who knows how far it'd go and be stable.

My 3Dmark03 score Oced is 10395, at stock speeds about 8950.

My system could be a bottleneck:
Athlon 2500+ at 185*11.5 (low fsb)
1gig Geil ram 6-3-3-2

I'm basically asking what I paid with tax: $430, and then shipping costs. It's not a great deal, but it's there for the taking. I'd accept a card in a trade to lower the price, but I'd treat something like a 9800pro worth $130, iwhich n comparison I just sold my 9700pro for $110.

Here's a thread I'm selling it at and you'll see my creditability there:

Also a photo is there.

I ordered this X800pro card from Outpost myself at 8pm and arrived at 10:48 am in the morning using overnight. So I didn't have much problem with them. Though, when something gets in stock that's rare, like an X800XT, and they only have 20, it soon gets on forums and before you know it you have 40 people ordering at the same time for 20, some will end up on backorder.

That reminds of one poor guy. He ordered an X800XT Visiontek from Outpost through their website while it was instock. He called after ordering to check their stock and found out they had 17 left from 20.

So he created a thread over at rage3d.com to share the news. Many ordered and by the end of the night he learned he got put on backorder, yet people that ordered the card after reading his thread were being shipped. Turned out that because he ordered online and a lot of people that found his thread ordered by phone, those that ordered by phone got priority over his online order because they are instantly entered while online orders take a while to get to them manually.
