Overwatch 2 - Official Thread

Also, this past weekend had a quick play hacked mode for open queue. 2 roles locked, so no more than 2 tanks, dps or heals in 5v5. It was mostly 2 tank synergy again. Just made me want 6v6 back again. Role queue or open queue.

It was cool at the time but the game has evolved and for me you can't turn back the hands of time. I've grown accustomed to all the new heroes and they are very welcome in my book so I won't even be playing this mode. What I have been enjoying is quick play hacked though because I like both 5v5 and 6v6 equally.
 
I want them to nuke OW2 and bring back the OG as it was the day they shut down servers, the perfect fps PVP game. That's the only way I'm coming back, greedy dicks.
 
I haven't touched Overwatch ever since rivals and I'm not sure I ever will again.

Although it is not as polished as overwatch is. Rivals is annoying me with bad audio, bad ping system, and bad hit registry among a few other things. I really hope they fix it because it's borderline unplayable for me as far as competitive goes and that's what I play.
 
I tried it also and to my surprise I didn't really care.

If rivals can fix their ping, voice chat, hit registry, and general poor audio in comparison to Overwatch I think it is going to over take overwatch easily.
 
New year, new season, "new" name. Overwatch 2 is now back to just Overwatch. 10 new heroes in a year. 5 new heroes starting Feb 10th. And to make sure Marvel Rivals doesn't win cutest hero award, Overwatch now has "Jetpack Cat" who can knock people back, pick them up and drag them off the map or carry teammates.

Been playing OW for the past month

So funny to see them drop the 2 from the name. Wtf was Blizzard thinking man. They absolutely fumbled and Rivals saved overwatch by bringing some real competition to the genre.

The game is good now. It has nearly hit its peak playercount on Steam again. I really like 5v5, for awhile OW devolved into shooting shields all day it was awful. It feels much more brawley now like Rivals does. I typically play tank or support.

The new perks are also cool imo. It adds a bit of spice to the game sometimes, and while it does increase the amount of knowledge you need to have in the game to play well, it is nowhere near as bad as stadium (stadium is awful tbh). Perks usually aren't crazy complicated or high impact enough to require extensive studying/gameplay changes to counter. It also kind of discourages counter-picking as you lose perks when you swap. Adds a bit more friction to prevent teams from devolving into constant counterswaps

I'm still not a fan of their monetization. People have stockholm syndrome the way they were begging for lootboxes to be added back. The battlepass is awful too though, since I grinded the game with some friends this month I figured I might as well get the battlepass since I played so much, and I wasn't even able to get all the rewards. It demands an unhealthy amount of time from you to finish. Atleast Rivals lets you work on old battlepasses, I don't think Overwatch does and that is so predatory. Game is much better now but the monetization is dogshit for anybody with a life

Honestly I thought this situation was overblown but once I got in game and saw the design, yeah it is egregious lol. There is a funny video on twitter (why are people still using twitter) that shows a drag and drop swap of various hair from other characters and they all look exactly the same.

Too bad, gooners buy the most skins. If you don't like it then vote with your wallet. Issue is gooners and whales are always going to be attached to generic designs and spend the most money on them

I guess I do find it interesting that this behavior has really increased with Overwatch 2 once Blizzard really tried to squeeze money out of the game, and moreso as it works to further appeal to asian audiences (China)

Too late now Rivals took it's spot and never going to back to OW. The lifetime of lore engraved into my brain in Marvel is too much. In comparison OW is lifeless and doesn't have any soul. It's a shell of a shooter. OW had it's time for me when Rivals wasn't born yet but I'm all in on Rivals now and highly unlikely to ever return to OW.
 
Eh the numbers look good for now. The new UI is very mobile/modern/rivals like. I'm reading the servers are overloaded and buggy, laggy.

As for the battlepasses, yeah you can't go back and level them like in Rivals if you bought it. You get a 20% xp buff if you buy the battlepass but I would still only buy it if you play a lot or get near level 80. Do the daily quests and weeklies to get XP though. For the average person it probably takes 3-4 weeks to level the battlepass, so half a season.

The Anran face thing is just dumb, pushed by the drama queen VA/streamer.
