What do you guys think about overvolting my 290's? msi afterburner offers +100mv, which allows me to gain an additional 35mhz on core, and for some reason, an extra 100mhz on memory.
The max core temp during benchmarking for 81c, and my max vram temp was 75c.
Would overvolting shorten the life span of the card, even though the thermals are in check?

Yes, overvolting would definetively shorten the card's lifespan. Acoording to electronics books on CMOS, for every 10ºC more of working temperature the electronics lifespan is reduced by half If you are planning on doing so, a good cooling solution has to be in place, preferably water cooling.
