overlay problems with ATI radeon 9500

im trying to get a dvd play to play in powerdvd, but when i play it, the image appears under the window. if i move the window around, i can see the image appear. ive tried reinstalling the driver, and updating it, and downgrading it, but its all the same. i cant get it to work properly.
