I have this problem thats been going on for about a month and its reall killing me. I have a GeForce 4 Ti4200 and a Hauppauge Win Tv pci tv tuner card. The problem is whenever i open WinDvr(2.03) it says "Overlay not available please lower resolution and or color depth". This also happens if i open WinDvd (5.0). Even if i lower the color depth from what i was using (1152x864 32 bit) it still doesnt work.
Another thing that started happening at the same time is if i open a mpeg file in mplayer2.exe (the old media player) and i full screen it, it changes my resolution to match the res of the video. It has never done this before. It doesnt happen with avis or in WMP 8 and 9. What does happen with full screen avis is that they become "flashy" and choppy.
Im pretty sure these problems are both based on my lack overlay but i dont know how to fix it. I tried removing all my installed codecs and installing nimos codec pack but it didnt help. I updated my nvidia drivers to 50.03 and it didnt help. I also updated my tuner card drivers and it didnt help. Sorry if this post is hard to read. Thanks in advance for any help.
