Overheating

Notice the tempatures. I have A heatsink fan, a HUGE fan on the back, a fan on the side and a fan below that. So why is my temps so high? I am using the program called Speedfan.

Motherboard is Gigabyte and the cpu is a pent 4 prescott

What heatsink do you have?

and are those load temperatures? or idle?

Looks like your chipset is burning up, how's your case airflow?

Which Prescott..?

I don't think Gigabytes report higher-than-usual temps...anyone else?

Is it dusty?

Dust in the heatsink will inhibit heat dissipation.

I don't think there is dust. I could get a can of that airspray stuff and see what I can do. Tell me what? if you need to know the model of whatever I have tell me how to get it and I will tell you what it is

Im thinking half the sensors on that are bad since your first HD is 17*C? thats kinda cold for a hard drive in a case with temps in the 60s! I would check in your bios to be sure what the cpu/case is, but dont take those verbatim.

Oh yea I have a harddrive fan aswell I totally forgot all about that.

I really don't know what to check in my BIOS

Itl say somthing about PC health status. Just look at the temps. They should be labeled at least CPU and system and will tell you how hot they are. Dont really want to go above 50-60c for the cpu as an upper limit and 65 as the oh shit wtf is wrong with my heatsink/fan kind of temp.

The BIOS and software utilities usually share the same temp diode, no?

www.cpuid.com works well

..and nevermind that's an idle temp...which is bad bad (if true).

Holy crap look at that 5v rail...

Maybe the BIOS will report something...a bit closer.

Are you using the stock heatsink/fan that came with the processor? Have you messed with it before?

yeap its a stock fan and I got my processor back in Jan but I've had this problem starting from NOV 2005 which is one of the reasons that lead me to but all of these parts to see if it will fix it.
