Okay, so i went to a lan or whatever and my friend turned up my video cards frame rate through the counterstrike software "steam". anyhow, a few seconds later, there were missing pixels on the graphics on all the games that i tried to run. I took my friends card (same card, geforce4 128 ti 4200) and popped it in and it worked fine. So obviously its hardware .. my question is .. well does anyone have any suggestions? its not under warranty or anything .. just curious if theres any other options then selling it on ebay or giving it away, hah.

thanks in advance.

sounds like your friend tryed to overclock your card. Unless he really jacked it up i wouldn't give up on it just yet. Try to set the clockspeed back to default (if u don't know how to access the clockspeed settings it's not hard, look around the net for gf4 overclocking and you're sure to find some kind of guide).

Kick your friend in the sac too while you're at it.

If he didn't overclock anything i don't know what else it could be, but it sounds like an over-overclocked card to me.

Sounds more like a heat problem. He probably OC'd it and it got too hot.

Like he said above. Set it all back to default and think about other methods of cooling before you try OC'ing it again. Also read these boards to get a good idea of just how far you can take that card.

If it's only going to be a few extra FPS, I'd leave it alone or think about upgrading vid cards.

Good luck, and let us know if it still works.
