Quick question.

Does anyone have a location were I can D/L the OverClockix .iso...I can't do bittorents from work.

I may be coming into a few machines here at work and I am thinking mini-farm. :D

Somebody hook me up!

If you don't mind a slow 312kbps(~39k/sec) download, I could probably host it for you (ftp).

Would probably take about 5 hours though. :D

Hey, drop it onto that box we bounce through. I think the C:\ftp is the FTP directory, hit that FTP (same as fold server) and drop it there if you want. 1.5 out the front door if it makes Mooses life easier.

Maybe I should look on my server, I'm sure a copy is there too.

No offense mage, I just want to try this out for shits and giggles. You know, blondes and red head deal.

Linking might not work, but copy past will.... :D

I should get around to giving them some money for that forum.

AtomicMoose: It lets you boot computers over the network, either PXE or Etherboot (direct boot from lan, or floppy->lan), and save all the progress from FAH onto just one machine. This means you only need 1 hard drive/cdrom for the cluster, and probably no floppy drives. If you set the machine to boot from network, and let it go, and there's PXE anywhere, it means that machine doesn't need a floppy.

Marty: NP, it's made by a team 32 member. How good can it be? You'll be back ;)
Seriously, Overclockix doesn't save folding progress to a hard drive, so if you reboot any clients you lose their progress. Fold-server is way ahead in terms of that, and I'm working on making it better (or I will once I get a friggin' development machine :( :( )

Hey unhappy_mage- Your about to get a boot up your butt regarding the fold saving in process.

I rebooted two crappers (ok, I pulled the plug out of the wall), they both started over from the beginning.

Any thoughts?

ps in hind site I think th eMoose wanted the live CD, not the net boot stuff. The net boot stuff is much, much more [H]arder!

I do want a live CD...I wanna run these babies diskless and as power efficient as possible.

How is it diskless if you using a CD? Be a man, net boot them!

I have the cd-roms already....these machines are free....(if this goes through)

Got a NIC and a floppy? Actually in hind site, mage's deal does save the work where as any live cd won't/can't. If you doing this @ work, it might be problematic to setup thou.

If all goes well, these machines will end up at home.
