Where is a certain site or magize/book(perferably) that is some-what like a guide to overclocking? Or- How else would I learn to OC my ram, or cpu...?

Thanks.

System:
AMD Athlon XP 2100+
768mb ddr ram(256pc2100 - 512pc3200. Obviously runs @ 2100)
Geforce4 mx 440
MSI Nforce2 400 chipset mobo
Windows XP Home

ive read parts of this book myself. the book is fine i guess as an introduction. to me it didnt seem to explain steps of overclocking so well. probably just me though. anyways you can find this book at all the big name book stores. probably will be cheaper that way...

Overclocking Guide (havent read it)

there is no ideal setting for any chip really. youll have to find it your self. my basic way of overclocking goes as follows...

start with a fsb you know your board can handle. for starters say less then 200. also youll want to start with a low multiplier, say 9 for the 2500+ since stock MHz is ~1800. 200x9 should be able to be reached with stock voltage of 1.45.

after that ill start upping the multiplier by .5 increments, which at 200 fsb are 100 MHz increments. only increasing voltage by .5v increments once a lock-up or crash in windows during stress testing.

if your going to be using the pc3200 ram in your sig id suggest staying at 200 fsb until you reach your overall cpu MHz limit. after that you can start raising your fsb and dropping your multiplier accordingly. youll also need to increase memory voltage when pushing your ram out of stock speed specs. after you found your sweet spot between fsb and multiplier then i would start adjusting memory timings and memory voltage. for amd systems its always best to stay 1:1. meaning your fsb is in sync with your memory.

so anyway i think i explained my way alright. good luck with your oc! :)

Yeah.. I didnt really understand what you said.. which is why I want to learn :) Thank you, and now.. off to start learning.
