So I just started overclocking again (last time was on a Celeron 300a, so it has been awhile)

X3210 2.16 @ 3199 (400x8) 1.37v 42c Idle Temps
Asus P5Q
4x2gb 800mhz DDR2
8800 GTS 320mb

I had to change out the ram due to not being able to hit anything over 2.4-2.6

Prime 95 64bit (Temps are around 62c)

I7-920 2.67 @ 3148 (149 x 21) 1.328v 37c Idle
Gigabyte X50-UD3R
3x2gb 12600
2 x HD4850's 1gb

Prime 95 64bit (temps around 59-62c)

Not too shabby for my first time.

Whoa old timer... lol

I haven't OC'd anything in years. A Q6600 in 2008 was the last thing I pushed.

I would say that is way too much voltage for 3.1 GHz. I even use less for 4 GHz.

My own OC is 1.29 vcore, 1.28 QPI/DRAM voltage, 1.8 PLL

EDIT: other than that, welcome back in the race ;)

Does the X3210 require that much voltage to hit that speed on your board?

I have one here at work that would do 4ghz on an X38 DFI lan party, but the board burned out and I haven't bothered to replace it. I was also able to do 3ghz with stock voltage and all C stepping/power saving features, which I thought was great.

I am not familiar with your board, but my limited understanding of 775 overclocking is that the board is a key player. Have you tried it with only 2 sticks of ram? That can be a factor as well.
