Hi!
My new system specs are:
Intel Pentium 4 3.2Ghz HT
Abit IC7-MAX3
2x512DDR 400Mhz
ASUS Radeon 9800XT 256mb
1x80GB, 1x120GB, 1x200GB
Newest BIOS!

Well the problem is I can't overclock, I try to just set FSB little higher and I save settings and reboot and the comp stops where it shows the cpu and memory check screen.
I tried to change the divider, but still didnt worked, Can some1 help me plz?
 
Maybe because you have cheap ram that won't push. Relax the ram timings and try again.
 
I got it working :D
I got from 3.2 to 3.6 at least, but its unstable, dunno what is wrong to
cpu is about 69C but I dont think its that..

I had an AMD running with a heatsink on backwards stabally at 90-95 celcius. however i immediatly fixed it...

GL on OC'ing... u should get it around 40
 
that CPU shouldnt go over 50C IMO. i have a 2.6Ghz P4 OC'ed at 3.45Ghz and it idles at 36C and never goes over 42C when at full load when running a ut2004 server with 32 bots or even that CPUburnin program. get better cooling that CPU wont last at that high of a temp. hol shitola thats a hot temp!
 
Im @ 3.52Ghz atm, and I ran Prime95 and it found 1 error. So that means its not stable, what should I do now?
 
I want to get up to 4Ghz, and im gonna buy a new cooler

just go water, rather then spending the 70$ to get that hunk of copper, id be fraid of it falling down...
 
69c is the temp that your processor will throttle down to %50 at, invest in a better heatsink
 
the sp-94 is an awesome heatsink. make sure that you have a fan that can push a lot of air though. that heatsink can house up to a 120mm fan too. i have my 2.4Ghz P4 overclocked at 3.45Ghz and it never goes over 42C even while playing doom 3 or running that CPU burnin program. if you buy good ram with your system then your overclocking potential can increase quite a bit. good luck.
 
tower/heatpipe coolers( the tt one) are shitty. They do not transfur heat worth a damn dude, the Hyper 6 cooler i had on my A64 had an idol temp of about 48C but the ALX-800 i had on my 3200 barton kept it around 34 C( i know they are like comparing apples and oranges) but all in all thermalright is a much better company/HSF manufacturer.

What are your temps when you're NOT OCing? Is the temp that you've posted at load, or idle? Right now, they're far higher than they should be....
 
abit ic7's are notorious for exaggerating cpu temps higher than actual. your actual cpu temp is 8-12C lower that what its reading. there is a bios update that fixes it somewhat but i think the fix only works with prescott cpu's.

id say your cpu is running in the high 50'sC, and that is to be expected with stock/average cooling. getting a better heatsink will bring your temps down but if it is in fact your cpu thats limiting you now, it may only give you a few mhz on the FSB extra.
 
Oh :eek: thx for that useful info m8! I thought also that my CPU temp was abit high, even with my Thermalright SP-94.
Idle temp is about 49-52C idle OC:ed, and about 47C idle not OC:ed

Btw where can I get that patch?
 
The article regarding the overtemp issues is in my sig. Very useful for us abit owners. Should be a warning for asus owners as well, read the article it is very good.
