overclocking woes

my friend overclocked fhis computer (NF7-S mobo, 2500+barton, 512 mb ddr shit ram) well he put the processor up to 190-200 external clock frequency(works fine at 186) and the multiplier at 11. (his sapphire radeon 9800 pro is also clocked to 400/360) it crashes aquamark and call of duty very frequently with a myriad of error messages and things. the temps are only a slight increase, btw what are normal CPU temps? well anywho, what would be the cause of these crashes if it isn't overheating? simple instability? how would we avoid this? also, this is causing some pretty horrible audio delay with the analog out on the mobo. im guessing caused by the overclocks too, any suggestions?

when u oc'd the CPU and FSB, did you increase the voltage? also, what kind of cooling are you using, makes a very big difference in ocing.

I was having the same problem with my 2500+ NF7-S. I just cranked the voltage to 1.825 and am so far stable at 220. Using Corsair Value Select (got lucky here!) Temps are at 49 under load.

hooray, thanks guys, it was the voltage. Running at 2.21 GHZ now on the 2500+ barton. never knew about that voltage thing, but it makes sense. this comp has kingston value ram too... and ehhh.. temperatures are certainly up there, 66 degrees C we got after playing a boatload of games to check stability (no crashes :). oh well, nothing to worry about.
