Hey guys,

Above are my specs. I have seen to run into a fairly odd issue with my motherboard(s). I'm going to be using FSB instead of HTT simply because I think it's an easier read :p.

To cut to the chase, I can't POST at a FSB > 250.

I'm fine from 200-250. But from 251 and up I simply cannot POST. Yet, in windows, on of my motherboards is good until about 280 FSB and the other, 330 FSB via clockgen.

I'm basically trying to see how high my memory can go but I can't load up memtest to try it. I'm using these settings when attempting to post.

HT Link = 3x
CPU multi = 5x
FSB = 260
Vcore = 1.4v
vdimm = 2.6v
AGP = 67

At this point, I attempt to boot up from floppy and it will not POST. I then have to reset my CMOS, and re-apply the BIOS changes. I then tried:

HT Link = 3x
CPU multi = 9x
FSB = 260
Vcore = 1.45v
vdimm = 2.6v
AGP = 67

Same thing happens. Therefore, I'm assuming it's a similar bug to the "220 and higher" FSB on the Neo4 Plat.

However, is there ANYTHING else I should try? I actually have TWO of these systems with the SAME setup and NEITHER can boot above 250FSB. I'd REALLY like to think I'm doing something wrong.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks :)

After talking with [cf]eclipse, and two others, they all agree it's a RAM issue. Thus both PCs having the same RAM/settings, I figured I'd post up my BIOS and A64 Tweaker memory settings:

Here is a picture of my BIOS RAM settings:

However, a friend of mine said check my MAL as a tight MAL may cause this. According to the creator of the modded BIOS, these are the FIXED settings (meaning can't change in BIOS):

- Max Async = 8
- Read Write Queue bypass = 16
- Bypass max = 7
- Idle Cycle limit = 64
- DQS Skew Mode = slower

And as you can see A64 Tweaker shows my MAL as 7ns :confused:

Still no POST over 250mhz, WITH or WITHOUT a divider. I haven't tried 1.5v, however if I'm lowering my CPU multi to 5x260 (to test memory), would I REALLY need that much?

Thanks for the suggestions. Here is someother things I have done.

Changed to a new bios (TCCD one), an now this is what A64 tweaker is showing . . .

However, I did notice something today. Normally when my computer starts, this is what happens:

Push the Power button
All fans rev up.
My 6800GT fan revs up, then STOPS completely
Then, after about 1 seconds, it spins again, the blue leds around the fan turn on, and you hear "Beep". She posts.

When I set my FSB to above 250, here's what happens:

All fans rev up.
My 6800GT fan revs up, then STOPS completely
It does NOT rev back up, the LEDs do NOT turn on, and the monitor goes into "power save" mode, and there is no "Beep". All other fans spin, the LEDs on other fans light up - only the video card is basically "non-functional".

I don't know if that's "normal" for a machine which doesn't POST, but it it something I discovered. I DO have the AGP Freq set to 67, which should mean it's locked . . .

I would say maybe it's power related. but this happened on my old Ultra 500w, and my BRAND new OCX powerstream 520w SLi - and it happens on BOTH of my systems.

Any other suggestions/ideas from what I just posted?
