I've also have a ATI Radeon 9550 256mb video card. How do i overclock this puppy?

there's a pile of different programs that allow you to overclock your card... radclocker or something like that worked ok for me. rvia tuner and power strip work as well i think. then just bump it up in small increments (5-10mhz) until you get artifacts when running 3d apps then bump it back down. you can google tutorials on this stuff i'm sure of it.

ATI Tray Tools is an excellent free utility - Google for it.

Everything you need to overclock your ATI card, including an auto-overclock function and convenience of setting up multiple configuration-file settings.

Hope this helps!

Nice, Im useing the rad thing. The originial Core clock rate is 250mhz. Ive clocked it up to 276.75 so far. How much more do you think i should go? Just an estimate would be nice

A 10% OC (or 25 mhz for you) is usually a given. Anything over that is a bonus with stock cooling. When you start getting up to the 15-20%+ region is when you are going to start needing some better cooling.

the temputure of my computer is under 45. My original setings were 250mhz for the core. I overclocked that up to 275 would it be safe to Go further?

safe is such a subjective term. OC'ing is like gambling. Before you put your money down you have to ask yourself if you have it to lose. Yes, 9 times out of 10 nothing bad will happen. But if you're not willing to lose it, don't do it.

check the sticky in this forum for a complete run down on OC'ing and finding out how to realize your max OC.

I still dont know how this radlinker really works. WIll the effects only take place if i make a link from it?

I've never used radlinker.

With ATI Tray Tools, you can save a configuration file with desired core and memory overclock and check a box if you wish your system to boot with these settings. ATI Tray Tools need not be running to boot with the desired overclock settings.

Regarding when to stop overclocking, most overclock core speed first, then memory speed. Keep going until you see visual artifacts such dropped pixels, dropped blocks of pixels or line artifacts.

Another way is to use a benchmark such the 'Lobby' benchmark in 3DMark2001. Move up in 5MHz increments until the Lobby benchmark results decrease. That usually coincides with the beginning of visual artifacts.

Hope this helps!
