overclocking thunderbird

what would be a reasonable overclock for an amd athlon thunderbird that runs at 1100mhz?
i just got one for free and would like to push the limits. i think the fsb is 200mhz or something.
 
The Thunderbird cores only had a FSB of 133Mhz.

You should expect to get 200Mhz more or so, make sure to use a very good HSF though they ran very hot.
 
if you wanted to go with the chilled watercooling route I got my file server that runs a 1200 mobile thunderbird processor up to 1.68ghz granted the water was -10C :D but yea like the above post said the average on air is probably 200-300 mhz with water cooling you might push 350mhz with a good boar+ram combo and some luck :D

No, there were both 100MHz and 133MHz FSB TBirds. I had a 1 GHZ T-Bird with a 100MHz FSB, and I currently have a 1.33TBird with a 133MHz FSB. There were plenty of socket A mobo's for t-birds (like the KT7) that only supported 100MHz FSB.


My guess on the overclocking though, maybe 200MHz, 300MHz if you're lucky and have some good cooling.
 
I've got a KT7 right here that's running a 1.4 at only 100 MHz FSB. If you're dealing with the old 100 MHz boards, good luck overclocking the FSB. They ran the processor clock at 100 but the ram at 133 and pushing the FSB just a little bit throws them way out of sync and causes bad instability. I think the highest I've gotten mine was 112 or so, but I wouldn't call it perfectly stable. The performance gains just aren't justifiable. Just go ahead and unlock the multiplier and OC it the old fashioned way.
 
I had an 1100 Tbird that topped out at about 1260, this was a 100MHz version. On the bright side it worked fine on a nforce2 with a 200+ fsb ;)
