Hi,
I just got my Radeon 9800XT changed for a Radeon X800 Pro.
I wanna know how much it is possible to overclock a Connect3D Radeon X800 Pro.
Any suggestions?

Yes I will, (IF POSSIBLE). It doesnt workw ith all X800 Pro cards right?
it works on almost all VIVO x800 pro's... but it is not an assured thing. you could hose your card.

If you go to tech power up, they have amethod of flashing the X800 Pro which can be reversed, so if the pipes dont work you can reverse it. But 98% of X800 Pro VIVOs mod fine. Hell, my X800 Pro modded and went all the way to 550/570 with no vmods or anything. Its almost like having an X850 XT PE for X800 Pro money (and 6 months earlier) :D

Heres a link to the mod that you can supposedly reverse

I got a VIVO sapphire x800 pro and flashed to an XT. I'm watercooled, and am running 645/580 completely stable.

First, try overclocking your card, little by little and find out what your max OC is. You should find your max oC before you do the flash for the pipelines.

k, I got my COnnect3D X800 Pro VIVO card now. Now I want to flash it, what should I d/l and wich BIOS?

Ok, I got my card flashed now.. I can see that the Mhz has changed but it still says its a X800 Pro and it still has 12 pipelines

Well if you flashed it right, then it would seem the card is locked. Would be weird though, i dont recall any AGP Pro VIVOs being locked.

I think I know why I cant get 16 pipelines, I got samsung GC 20 on the card that means I got GC 2.0 right?
I'll try with a 2.0 BIOS..

Well, that shouldnt make any difference to the pipelines really. I thought all VIVOs had 1.6 ns ram? You sure you got a VIVO card?

I just checked it and it seems its not a vivo card  but the guy i got it from told me it was a vivo card..

Damn, it's a pity that my Connect3D X800 Pro card isn't a VIVO card :(
Anyways I flashed the BIOS to a XT bios tho.
so I got Engine @ 520Mhz and Memory @ 560Mhz.
I overclocked it alittle (aircooling atm) and I got up to <Engine 586 MHz> and <Memory to 594 MHz>.
I will do more as soon as I can find the time.. :p
WIth this I get 4443 points in 3D Mark 05.

Ok, but If I do exactly as it says. Does it mean that i still maybe wont be able to get 16 pipes?

it will open them, but their working ability is unknown - you could get heavy artifacting. IIRC, if you do that and the pipes dont work right, your card is hosed.

Ok, damn :p now Im afraid of hard modding my card.. if its not that sure that it'll work..

You should be advised that hardmodding is risky, and there is no turning back if it doesn't work. Even without the mods, and on air, the card is a great overclocker. But I can see, if I got this card through RMA replacement, I would try it too. Let us know how it turns out.

I really advise against hard modding. It's really easy to mess up your card (dig too deep for the trace, cut a capacitor off, etc)

I've tried it myself, and I wouldn't do it again. I didn't break the card, but I think I got lucky.
