I have an X800 pro AGP that is starting to 'lag behind the times' and I can't afford a new graphics card so I need a cheap, easy way to overclock it (as far as cooling hardware goes). I don't really want to spend more than about $20 on a cooling mechanism, so can someone give me a suggestion for a non-water base cooling device that will allow me to overclock my GPU better than with the stock HSF? I have auto-overclocking on in catalyst but in graphics intensive games I get artifacts (although this seems to be exclusively happening in Direct3D games like Fear and BF2 for some reason).

I have a 500watt PSU if it matters.

I have the same card as you and purchased myself an ATI AC Silencer 4 and it works wonders.

I used ATI tool to OC my card before and I was getting core temps of 95C with load. After I slapped this puppy on, I haven't seen it rise over 55C with a load. I don't even think I need my side fan blowing on my gpu anymore this thing is so effective.

I'm in Canada and I think mine cost around $30, but looks like newegg has it for $20.

Also to note, that card may be able to be BIOS flashed to unlocked 4 additional pixel pipelines. (If, of course it is only 12 pixel pipelines now). Some cards are coming from the manufacturer with the 16 pipes, but thought I would mention this just in case.

I have the X800GTO2 whih is BIOS flashed... but I do know the X800 like yours have had luck in the mod as well... Let us know and we'll try to find more information for that route.

Good Luck!

Nifty:

What is your highest stable core/mem with stock ati cooler and with the one your ordered online?

Can you elaborate and provide some links, i've never heard about this!
