Ocing the E6700 (2.66GHz) on the P5B Deluxe this afternoon.

Made it up to 3.45 (10x345) with ease, not a voltage tweak in site. 3.55GHz proved to be the wall from what I can tell. Voltage tweaking is not giving me stability, so I think this processor has reached its ceiling. The CPU is being cooled by a Koolance Exos with 300w block.

Going in now to see if I can get it stable at the 3.5-even mark.
 
OK, here it is at 3.5..pretty damn spiffy memory bus too.

I think this is about the edge. I dont see more than another 100MHz with big voltage tweaking and only water....

Gotta run, have guests over for dinner.
 
If adding volts to the CPU isn't giving any stability then doesn't it make more sense that it's the chipset holding you back?
 
Nice overclock Kyle. I would say the board is likely holding you back though since you say that increasing the voltage isn't netting you any real clock increase. Possibly a BIOS update or some further BIOS tweaking would address the issue. An E6700 should be good for up around 3.6-3.8GHz+ on watercooling since most of the ES E6600's i've seen so far are hitting 3.4-4GHz on aircooling.
 
Will likely play with is some on Sunday. Thanks for the suggestions, as noted we have not tweaked any of the voltage yet....beyond DD2. Have had enough of Conroe for the last week...at least for now. :) I will do a new personal system build here soon and think I will slide back to the E6600 with some healthy OCing probably. Been a while since I have done that on one of my own boxes. I am going to wait and let the dust clear around all the pricing first though. Give it about 4 or 5 weeks and all the prices should have come back down to reasonable levels....if Intel has the supply they say they do.
 
Looking good. I'm hoping that at least some of these P965 boards are good for 400MHz on the bus. That'll net a healthy clockspeed from just about any of the C2D processors.
 
Since I haven't been keeping up on Intel chipsets recently I didn't know the 975X front side bus could get so high and stay stable. Can you easily have the FSB set to 375x4 (1500mhz) with ease?
 
I suggest maybe get a Gigabyte DS3 and maybe try some overclocking on that board also. I've heard of a lot of good overclocking results over the Asus board. =D It's got higher FSB support

You should be able to hit 400MHz+ on a good 975x chipset board. Xtremesystems would be a good place to check out what overclocks people are getting on current boards that are available.

Wow, that's pretty cool. I have a feeling that the E6600 will be the new "Celeron 300A."
 
Wow nice OC. Im stuck @ 310FSB on my X6800 no matter the voltage. 305FSB was easy with no voltage adjustments, but 310FSB seems hard to get for me.

As soon as I run Prime95 I drop one core and it locks. I know the memory is fine as I was able to hit 330FSB all day long on my 955XE.

Temps and voltages are fine....starting to think that I got a weak Conroe.
