OK, this is my first rig and I want to overclock my X2 3800+ to at least 2.2ghz. I have a zalman CNPS9500, 1 gig of Corsair DDR2 800 5-5-5-12-2T ram, and a ASUS M2N-SLI mobo. I can overclock to 2.1ghz by just changing the multiplyer and HTT frequency, but when I change to 2.2ghz, I get a memory error (thorugh the speaker on my case) and have to reset my CMOS in order to boot. How do I get this higher? And yes I know that i'm a noob at this. So, can anyone help me?

What kind of Voltage do you have going to the ram with the cpu @ 2.1 and what is the cpu voltage also. What cooling solution are you using on the cpu?

Did you try a devider on your ram IE 1:1 or 1:? or loosen up the timings from 5-5-5-?

Well, I had stock voltage going to it. I don't have access to my rig right now (at my grandparents house), but when I get home tommorrow, i'm going to up the voltage also. As you can see, i'm a complete n00b at this.

We all start some were. If not needed don't put the volt's up on cpu yet. Try the ram volt / timmings / speeds first and see if it is the ram holding you back or if that is just the error you are getting just because.

If you're a complete beginner to this process, follow this guide. I'm sure once you're done with it you'll have gotten far more than just 2.2 ghz out of it.
