Will performance be hurt if I am not running at a 1:1 or 5:4 Ratio? I am stable at 3.52Ghz(440x8) on a 680i Board. My memory is running at 800Mhz at 4-4-4-12. But this puts me at a 11:10 Ratio. Is this going to hurt performance in anyway? No matter what I do, I can't reach 3.6 Ghz so I can get a 1:1 Ratio unless I clock to 3.2Ghz which is too slow. So will performance be hurt with what I am currently running, or is it fine? Thanks.
 
I don't have experience with this one Intel platform but on my 939 and AM2 boxes there isn't really a performance hit. Just make sure you aren't using any 'AUTO' timing settings in your BIOS, many boards get them wrong when a divider is used AFAIK. Good luck dude sounds like you have a good OC going already.
 
Bandwidth suffers greater losses on the intel platform when memory is run asynchronously because of chipset latency. 1:1 yields the best BW/clock on your ram. Use sandra or everest to confirm this for yourself. If 3.6 ghz cant be reached run it 1:1 as fast as it'll go for a comparison. For instance try 380-399 or whatever you can get it to run and compare that to a sandra bench on your current settings. I found the difference to be quite substantial in my system. Hope that helps.
 
synthetic benchmarks don't tell the whole story, I'd also run game timedemos to see if the hit is "real" or just measured in a synthetic benchmark...
 
On my OC I did some testing
All of this was at a multi of 8 and an FSB of 450

With 1:1 and ram at 900MHz 4-4-4-10
Sisoft Read: 7874

Ram at 1080Mhz 5-4-5-12
Sisoft Read: 8299

Ram at 1125Mhz 5-5-4-12
Sisoft Read: 8417

Im not sure if that last one is stable, but current is 1125Mhz 5-5-5-15
Sisoft Read: 8277

From this I see that in Synthetic Benchmarks I get apx a 5% performance boost, maybe in real games that might be less, but still a boost...

So I'm wondering, are there other speeds which are affected as well by running ram asynchronously??
 
I was actually able to get it stable at 3.6Ghz which gave me a 1:1 Ratio. It turns out I just needed to bump up the MCP Voltage to 1.6V. Thanks for the replies. :)
