I have been tinkering around with OCing my Q6600 with a P5N-e mainboard.
The original bios would not allow me to boot as 1333FSB until I upgraded the bios to 0608. I was then able to boot with an FSB of 1333 at 3.0GHz with mem timings at 5-5-5-12 2T. Everything else at default.
I had tried to go higher of which it would not post. I even tried upping the mem voltage a bit a few times & no luck.
Now, when I try those same settings that worked before, it won't boot.
I can easily boot at 1200FSB with same timings.

Any ideas as to why it worked before but will not now?

What would be the best settings for this combo along with OCZ System Elite 2GB DDR2 PC2 6400 RAM on stock cooling for now?

Did you try upping it at all to see if that makes a difference?

Let me try now & I'll post back.

Ok, I am now at 1333@3.0GHz.
Now I need something that will show me voltages.
I have ntune but it doesn't report them.
I also have pc wizard but not sure if it shows the right ones you want.

Think I set vcore to 1.3 & mem voltage to just below 2.

I didn't need to see your voltages, I thought you needed to. Now it's just a matter of you upping your clocks :)

How far can I get on stock cooling though?
Since I have just started out with this a few days ago, which clocks are you referring to?
If you mean the system clocks, there is only 1 setting which is at 100 currently.

I do have one side question. Are cases with built in water cooling any good?
Such as the Thermaltake Armor LCS ?
Maybe with bigger hoses?

Your FSB

I'd stay away from Thermaltake ...you can't go wrong with this http://www.petrastechshop.com/pecoba.html

Either that or wait a couple weeks when Swiftech releases this http://www.swiftnets.com/products/H20-120-COMPACT.asp

And...if your on stock cooling, you HAVE to watch your temps, in my opinion going over 60c on a regular basis is something I wouldn't do.

My cpu temp is currently 41celcius.

Will probably wait for that second one for when it gets to Canada.

One other side question. How good is that stability test that is part of ntune?
I know about prime95 & do have it installed.

I would personally do away with ntune, and stick with primce 95 version 23.5 which stresses all four cores with one mouse click.

Initially, I'd let it run for an hour, but with a stock heat sink I'd be keeping a real close eye on your temperatures and not let them get much over 60c. I'd have you run coretemp to get your temps.

I don't think your going to make it very long under 60c, but give it a try.

How do you calculate temperature from CoreTemp in the case of quad cores ?

Do you add them all up then average them out ? or pick one of the cores?

Ok downloaded that but it's failing to load a driver & continuously pops up a warning telling me so to where I have to end task it.
Tried the beta & it says my temps are 100 celcius for each core. LOL.
